ANZAC day.
by zeb inthe 25th april in australia and new zealand is called anzac day.
the word is from australia new zealand army corp.. on this day are commemorated the lives of those lost in war.
the 25th april is the day in 1915 that the forces under incompetent commanders landed on the coast of turkey at a place called gallipoli or galliboli in turkish, in an effort to force turkey out of the great war.. the landings were an unmitigated blunder.

'...Johnny Turk had prepped himself well. He rained us with bullets and shot us with shell. In five minutes flat we were all blown to hell. He almost blew us back to Australia....We stopped to burn our dead. We burned ours and the Turks burned theirs and we started all over again...' -

Princes mansion was worth millions. His estate in the many hundreds of millions.
Watchtower Nov 2008, '... Let’s face it—as imperfect humans, we are prone to wrong desires that can lead us down the wrong path. (Genesis 8:21) Hence, millions continue to pursue the vanities that the Bible describes as “the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life.” (1 John 2:16) That is not the way of real success but is a counterfeit that leads to disillusionment and unhappiness...'
Apparently Prince never 'faced it'.

If Prince left George Cook a sizable sum in his will, that would probably be exactly the kind of smile George would have. -

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

MASH '...What on earth are you talking about? I mean are these serious questions you are asking? I am struggling to understand your motivation behind asking them. Do you genuinely believe these questions you ask cannot be answered?'
Serious questions? Cofty thinks he has it nailed in explaining how a fin turned into a finger. [ie. getting eaten by predators. Time to get out of the water.] Subject after subject after subject.I am waiting for Cofty to explain how evolution produced the following :
1] anger
2] embarrassment
3] joy
4] love
5] happiness
6] a warrior getting weak in the knees at the sight of a pretty girl and how a girl can wrap a strong man around her little finger
7] willingness to sacrifice a life for a cause
8] deceit
9] greed
10] nostalgia
11] memory
12] loyalty
13] devotion
14] committment
15] a desire to care for the weak and vulnerable even if it risks your own welfare
16] how love and kindness [the spiritual] can get more lasting and meaningful response from a person or group or people than threats and fear of harm [the physical]
17} mildness
18] self control
19] language
20] etc,etc,ect,

Which books that present the scientific evidence for evolution you have read.
I predict the answer is none and that you will ignore the question.
Your questions strongly suggest you have never read a single word.
My dear, dear, cofty. Let me explain the way this works. When someone propounds a belief they leave themselves open to inquiry from whoever may take an interest in the subject. If the inquiry is insincere they may chose to ignore it or answer in kind or answer sincerely to adjust the thinking of the inquirer or answer to reach other onlookers who may be more accepting of the argument. Whatever the reason, it is valid to the responder. It does not have to make sense or find favor with anyone else. How you answer is totally up to you. However, the inquirer does have the right to continue asking questions and making comment on the belief as long as the responder, you for example, continues to make reply. [I'll change the thought now because I think I am starting to confuse myself.]
Therefore, being as YOU are the one who is forwarding your belief, and I am not forwarding any belief, but merely asking questions and making comment [even if they are, at times, smart ass comments] I do not have to answer any questions, I do not have to prove I have read any books, I do not have to justify my thoughts. It is sufficient for me to simply forward questions and comments that you, the propounder of the belief, may or may not choose to answer.

So I ask.
Why is it that with over 7 billion people on this earth, living in such varied degrees of temperatures, year after year, generation after generation, from the hottest countries in Africa to the coldest nations bordering the Arctic circle, why is it that all 7 billion, that's every one of them mind you, has a body temperature of about 98.6 degrees. [Granted a variation of 1 degree F is possible] Why is it that evolution has not kicked in to raise or lower the body temperatures of these varied nations. Why is it that someone with 3 or 4 degrees rise in temperature is viewed as sick and not looked at as a start of a beneficial evolutionary change.
Sure, evolution has worked to control the body temperature and maintained the balance with heat production mechanisms and heat loss mechanisms to keep a constant body temperature.
Why go to all that work? Why not just change to core temperature? And would you not think out of 7000 million people there were a few who were taking off toward a higher or lower body temperature?
And why not shift the positions of the kidneys and lungs etc in the body? Surely they must have had a wild ride to get where they are. Why stop now? Certainly out of 7000 million people there would be some who would be showing movement of organs, finding a better spot. A definite evolutionary improvement. Or has man reached perfection and evolution has gone on to other challenges?

The evidence that life may have emerged in an Alkaline vent is basis for a hypothesis. Lots more work remains to be done before anybody can say anything with any confidence.
David Splane, " The evidence that Fred Franz is a pivotal link in the overlapping generation is basis for a hypothesis. Lots more work remains to be done before the faithful and discreet slave can say anything with any confidence."

cofty Why do you hate science?
I love science.
I love formal science such as logic and mathematics.
I love social science. The humanities. The study of human behaviour, both in the individual and society absolutely fascinate me. The study of human psychology, which is somewhat what we do on this forum. Comments and responses. Response to stimuli etc. You give me stimuli, I give you a response. visa versa.
I love political science.
Applied sciences , engineering and medicine. etc.etc.etc.

cofty '..The fact that every living thing evolved from a common ancestor over millions of years is beyond all reasonable doubt.'.
Blue jays, fir trees, elephants, fleas, dolphins, cactus, pineapples, blueberries, crocodiles, raccoons, mosquitoes, tigers, snakes, apples, spinach, my Uncle Charlie, cockroaches [well okay Uncle Charlie and cockroaches I can see] all have a [one] common ancestor.
Right!

One of the most compelling hypothesis is that it happened in Alkaline vents under the ocean but there are other contenders.
Oh, okay, I get it. Probably, until we get 'new light'.
